What binds to what?

HGF, also called scatter factor, binds MET. Original cell experiments connected ligand binding with receptor phosphorylation, growth and motility. This map describes the endogenous ligand and receptor; it does not rank therapies. Primary study (opens in a new tab).

A processed protein, not a short fragment

Active HGF consists of alpha and beta chains. The sequence display joins them in precursor order for reference; the cleavage and disulfide-linked structure remain essential. The MET component length refers to the canonical precursor protein, not an isolated receptor domain. HGF record (opens in a new tab) · MET record (opens in a new tab).

How to read claims about modulation

MET connects to several intracellular pathways. Growth, survival and migration must be interpreted in the relevant tissue and disease context. A proposed modulator is not necessarily a direct receptor agonist. Dihexa therefore remains a separate article rather than an assumed direct-agonist arrow in this map. Evidence for HGF biology alone does not establish that compound’s human benefit. MET signaling (opens in a new tab).
